Reopening the Community School (2020)

In 2020, the Foundation took action to restore education opportunities in Ite by renovating and reopening an abandoned community school. We repaired the classrooms, furnished teacher housing, and hired qualified educators to ensure consistent learning for local children. This effort has given young students a safe, stable place to learn, grow, and dream again. Here is a video of one of our students hard at work—an example of the hope and potential this school has brought back to the community.

Providing Clean and Accessible Water (2020)

In 2020, the Foundation installed a community borehole in Ite to ensure families have access to safe, clean drinking water. Before this project, women and children often walked nearly two miles to collect water from unsafe sources. Today, the borehole serves as a reliable, nearby water supply that supports daily living, protects health, and restores dignity to the community. This single resource continues to improve the quality of life for every household it serves.

Caring for Individuals With Developmental Disabilities (California)

In California, the John Obasohan Foundation extends its mission of dignity, empowerment, and compassionate care by supporting individuals with developmental disabilities through our residential programs. We provide safe housing, daily living support, community integration, and person-centered services that honor each individual’s strengths and potential. This work reflects our core belief that every person deserves the opportunity to live with respect, belonging, and purpose—whether in our home communities in Nigeria or here in the United States.
